New Flight Route from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
Mar 01, 2012

Turkish Airlines confirmed four daily flights will be leaving from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol for the city of Istanbul in Turkey from this summer onwards. The services to Istanbul Ataturk Airport will consist of one daily wide-bodied aircraft type Airbus A330 taking off and three narrow-bodied aircraft type Airbus 320 starting daily.

While the Turkish Airlines flights will undoubtedly more attractive to tourists, Amsterdam Schiphol’s own research confirmed that some 40% of all passengers being handled by the airport fly for business purposes rather than for pleasure. With some 2,000 important companies being located in the Amsterdam metropolitan area alone, it is easy to see why there is such a large proportion of business travel.

There are also more than 10,000 foreign companies settled in the Netherlands and nearly 50% of all Asian as well as US European Distribution Centres are actually based here. There are 13 Dutch companies listed in the Fortune 500 Ranking published in 2010 alone, making Amsterdam Airport Schiphol not just an important aviation hub for tourists, but also a vital place for European business connections.

No wonder then that nearly 50 million visitors flooded into the Netherlands every year since 2009. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol caters for onward travel by providing high speed train links, coach and bus services as well as having several internally renown car rental suppliers stationed at the airport.
